Newsletter from Justin Gomes – The Loerie Awards

JUSTINGreetings, Creative Circle members.

As we wind our way to the end of the year, a quick update post Loeries 2015.

As the role of the Loeries is to showcase regional work, in future the jury chairmen and judges will be given the mandate to recognize truly regional work that may not necessarily be acknowledged at international award shows, ie. distinctly South African work, distinctly Nigerian work, distinctly Kenyan work.

Additionally, the South African New Voice category for non-English work will be expanded beyond radio, judged separately by a specialist panel, but awarded together with all other categories at the awards. We are also looking at ways of incorporating a Non-English category at Creative Circle Award of the Month where specialist judges will be called on to judge the Non-English category.

Earlier in the month, the Creative Circle Exco decided the current Loeries eligibility rules remain the same for 2016. The Loeries board also met last week and confirmed the same. Loeries remains open to Africa & Middle East, as well as to international agencies working on campaigns created specifically for the region.
